Flame mahogany in London style.
Pagoda hood with silk backed fret panels to hood and side.
Brass capped reeded pillars to hood with brass inserts to reeds, quartered columns
to rear.
Long trunk door with semi circular top.
Reeded brass capped quarter pillars to trunk with brass inserts to reeds.
Base with applied astral moulding and double plinth.
Width at widest point 20" (Hood).
Dial :
Rolling moon and stars against moonlight night sky.
Brass 16" x 12"arched dial with maker's name engraved in arch and date
box.
5 pillar movement.
Steel hour and minute hands and seconds hand.
Roman and Arabic numerals.
Strike / Silent feature.
Brass weights.
Maker :
1770 - 1801. Sometimes maker's name spelt Videon and place name as Feversham.
He was in business before 1774 as the following advertisement appeared in the
Kentish Gazette on 13 -16 July 1774:
JOHN VIDION,
WATCH-MAKER and SILVERSMITH, at FAVERSHAM,
BEGS Leave to inform the Public, that he continues to take in
Light English Gold Coin ……..
