Oak case of honey colour with mahogany cross banding and decoration to hood and
trunk including canted mahogany corners to hood.
Brass capped reeded mahogany pillars to hood.
Long trunk door with shaped pinnacle top.
Width at widest point 18.75" (Hood).
Bracket feet.

Maker :
John Bancroft's dates of working are circa 1770 - 1807. He was reputedly from
London. There was a William Bancroft working in Newborough St., Scarborough in
1823 who is thought to be John's son and successor.
Dial maker William Whittaker of Halifax in Yorkshire entered into partnership
with William Shreeve as Whittaker & Shreeve.
