Corinthian and brass capped pillars to hood with repeated pillars to rear of hood.
Gothic type side windows to hood backed with silk.
Long trunk door with wavy top and half round pillars to side of trunk.
Width at widest point 21" (Hood).

Brass dial rolling moon (one moon brown eyed and the other blue) with well painted.
landscape scenes and engraved moon hemispheres.
Arch dial 17.5" x 12" with well engraved centre featuring birds at 2
and 10 o'clock.

Good quality Rococo scroll style spandrels.

Maker :
Thomas Newton was known to have been working in Hexham 1758 until he moved to
Newcastle - Upon -Tyne in 1774. His daughter Eleanor was baptised in September
1758.
In 1778 at Newcastle he married Margaret Bird and a son Robert was babtised in
November 1778.Thomas Newton died in 1780.
A James Newton was working as a clockmaker in Newcastle - Upon - Tyne in 1780
and
it is thought he was the son of Thomas Newton and he succeeded his father on his
death.
