West Country features of scalloped hood door edges and hood crest.
Choice well figured mahogany veneers and inlays.
Rope twist pillars to hood and to trunk sides.
Satinwood inlays to hood and Tunbridge inlays to trunk and base.
Two front feet only, as was the local style, designed to lean against wall.
3 brass eagle finials.
Width at widest point 19.5" (Hood).
Dial :
Painted 12" x 17.5" dial featuring old cottage scene in arch and flower
spandrels in corners.
Roman numerals.
Matching brass hour, minute and second hands.
Aperture calendar 'mouth'.
This dial style was once very popular in an area stretching through Cornwall,
Somerset, Bristol to South Wales.
Movement :
Probably Birmingham made and Will Pollard was likely to have been the retailer.
Maker :
William Pollard was known to have been working in Camborne 1844 - 56 but could
have been working before and after those dates.
