Case :
Typical Midlands style with features found in this area such as domed inlay to top of trunk long door which has mahogany cross banding.
Swan neck with original brass paterae and wedge shaped central finial column.
Oak, medium colour.
Wooden turned pillars to hood with Corinthian brass capitals.
Reeded quarter columns to trunk with Corinthian brass capitals.
Canted corners to base.
Panel to base.
Ogee feet (original).
Width at widest point is 21.5ins (hood base).

Movement/Dial :
Painted arched dial with maker's name in arch.
The Falseplate is stamped 'Osborne, Birmingham'.
This dial is among the earliest of white dials (first made in 1771) and the gold gesso corner decorations are an attempt to copy the brass spandrels of a brass dial clock.
Arch dial 18.0 ins by 12.75 ins.
Matching steel hour and minute hands.
Aperture calendar mouth.

Maker :
Joseph Burn took over John Bagnall's premises in West Bromwich in 1781 and his overall known working dates are 1765-91. He was also working throughout this period, or had premises in Walsall. In the years 1781-91 he also worked in Dudley. He took James Hart as an apprentice at Walsall in 1791.
