Flame mahogany case with double reeded columns to hood and repeated at sides.
Broken arch hood with verre eglomise panels.
Long door with mahogany cross banding.

Maker's name displayed in silvered cartouche ' W Lassel Tox th Park'
Liverpool style engraved cross hatched centre.
Brass centre calendar sweep hand.
Silvered minute chapter ring and seconds dial.
Original hour, minute and seconds hands.
Good quality rope style spandrels.
Roman numerals.
On the reverse of the dial is stamped 'TL 1785' - see below.

Maker :
William Lassel was born circa 1736 and died in 1819 and is a renowned maker. He
was the son of Thurston Lassel (1) whom he succeeded in 1758 and worked at High
Park, Toxteth Park until 1807. Some of his clocks are signed Toxteth Park' and
some just 'Park'
Birkenhead museum and Liverpool museum each have a longcase clock by him.
His father Thurston (1) worked at Toxteth Park from 1736 until his death in 1758
and his will mentions his wife Ann and their son William as his sole heir.
William Lassel's son, Thurston (11) was born circa 1763 and died in 1819, the
same year as his father. He also worked at Toxteth Park, presumably for his father
as on the reverse of this clock dial is stamped 'TL 1785'
