Oak cottage style case with silk - backed fretwork panel in hood.
Integral square capped pillars to hood, quarter repeated at rear.
Long trunk door with strap hinges.
Plinth to base Width at widest point 20.25 ins (hood ).

Dial :
Unique key wound 30 hour movement having count wheel striking and motion work to drive the hands.
11" square brass dial with cast brass spandrels of figures depicting the four seasons.
Silvered Chapter ring with half hour markers.
The reverse chapter ring and the dial beneath the chapter ring is stamped 'RM' for Randle Maddock.
There is also practice engraving on reverse of chapter ring.
Well engraved dial centre featuring acanthus leaves and flowers with makers name engraved below 12.00.0' clock.

Randle Maddock (1) of Leek - Eighteenth century Leek supported several clockmakers but the most notable was Randle Maddock (1) who was a maker of 30 hour clocks (often with unusual movements) and 8 day clocks.

Family: Randle Maddock (1) - Leek known working dates 1712 - 1740 (took James Anston as apprentice in 1712 and William Hall in 1718)

Randle Maddock (11) Leek - born 1734 known working in Leek 1755 - 1815 , d1819 (younger brother of Thomas but the relationship with Randle (1) is unclear (not his son)

Thomas Maddock Leek - known working in Leek c1750 - 1780 (repaired and maintained Astonfield Parish clock).

It appears that all three clockmakers produced key wound 30 hour clocks as they have been documented circa 1730 and circa 1760 and after Randle (1)'s death.
